Top picture is Elizabeth Maud “Bessie” Ariail, wife of Tom A. Jones. and Mabel A. Ariail, wife of Thomas Lee Smith. We do not know what happened to Tom A. Jones. Thomas Lee Smith died in Calhoun, Alabama. Both ladies probably did not lived with their husband and when they died, were buried next to each other, with a common marker in Alabama. They were the daughters of Robert Franklin Ariail and his wife Emma Susan Barrett. Bottom Picture is that of Aunt Jemima Pickens, housekeeper to Gen. Pickens of South Carolina. She lived to be 105 years of age. The Anderson County Cemetery Records state that she is the original Aunt Jemima. She is buried near the place where John and Chloe Ariail are interred in the historic Pickens Cemetery in Anderson County, South Carolina.
