Both top and bottom pictures are a monument erected to the memory of the Confederate soldiers who died at Manassas, Virginia. The bodies were originally buried in shallow graves in the farmers’ fields but the farmers were plowing up the bones. Those bones were then removed from the fields and buried in a mass grave. William Ira Ariail, son of William Harrison Ariail is said to have died in a Field Hospital in Manassas. His remains were probably a part of these soldiers, therefore, this monument would be in his memory.
