Top picture is of the family grave marker for the Judd Family in Dalton, Georgia. Bottom marker is for Morton Ellis Judd. Morton was the son of Hubert Lewellyn Judd from Connecticut. The Judd family were industrialists with manufacturing plants in Connecticut, New York and Chattanooga, Tennessee. Their products had a world-wide distribution. See other books of this web site for more extensive documentation of this family. Morton married his cousin, Lenna Gertrude Clarke. Family lore has it that the family rode their bicycles from Connecticut and when passing through Dalton, Georgia, Lenna told her husband to buy the piece of land on which they were resting and build her a home there. The Judd mansion still stands in Dalton today, along with the Carriage House which accompanies the home. Lenna’s yard is patterned after oriental gardens. Lenna was so well known that the faces of people in Dalton light up when her name is mentioned. A plaque to her memory was erected in the Georgia Botanical Gardens in Athens, Georgia.
