Red River

Red River

Top picture is that of the Red River area in Alexandria, Louisiana near the place where Manna Rich Ariail and his family resided. Manna is buried in Louisiana but members of his family are interred in a cemetery in this area. We were informed by the officials in the area that a flood destroyed many of the graves in the cemetery and some of those may have been members of Manna’s family as we have not been able to find some of the graves. Bottom picture is of the Walker family plot in Alabama where Antoinette Walker Ariail, daughter of Dr. Preston Lucas Walker and wife of Henry Ellis Ariail, Sr., is buried. Although some believe that Henry Ellis Ariail, Sr., was not married to this woman, it is very likely that he was. Dr. Walker sent Henry to Auburn University to study to be a druggist and Henry later owned his own drug store near Birmingham, Alabama. Dr. Walker was also a druggist, so all the dots match and we believe we are correct in our assessment. We have been told that Henry was a very distinguished individual and that in the latter stages of life, would sit and talk with people dressed with his bow tie. His daughter, Anne Stuart Ariail became Miss Alabama and runner-up to Miss America. I have personally met Anne and she is a fascinating individual to meet and know.
