This is picture of John Harvey Ariail III b. Aug 30 1838 d. Apr 6 1862. The family story goes that he died in the Civil War and was delivered to his home by a neighbor who was picking up his own deceased son. The family did not know he was dead until the neighbor brought him home. According to Charles H. Busha historian John Harvey Ariail III served in Co. F 1st S.C. Cavalry CSA. He died of measles on Apr 6 1862 at which time his company was stationed on the coast of S.C.
